Cephalopods | Lembeh Resort
May 11 - May 20$3250
Special Scientific Expedition on Cephalopod Camouflage
Join us, Annie Crawley and Dr. Roger Hanlon for a special 9 night trip to our old home of Critters at Lembeh Resort in Lembeh Strait, Indonesia.
Dr. Roger Hanlon is one of the worlds’ cephalopod experts at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, which is an affiliate of the University of Chicago. The Hanlon Lab is dedicated to the study of camouflage in animals. You can read more about the lab here and more about Dr. Hanlon here.
He has also recently published two new books on cephalopods:
Dr. Hanlon and his assistant will be brining with them their Hyper Spectral Imager (HSI), a specialized camera that can capture an incredible 16 colors per pixel (as opposed to the 3 that all our cameras capture). They will be using this to capture cephalopod behavior, camouflaging, etc.
This scientific trip is sure to not only be educational, but fun with incredible diving in the Lembeh Strait! Dr. Hanlon will be giving evening presentations on cephalopods, their behaviors, camouflaging, and discussing the day’s findings. You won’t want to miss this very special opportunity!
